There's no-one quite like a mother when it comes to giving advice - welcome or otherwise.
And it seems Ashley Tisdale wanted an honest opinion on her purchases as she hit the shops  in Los Angeles on Thursday.
The High School Musical star, 27, showed off her slender legs in tiny ripped shorts as she enjoyed an afternoon shopping with her mother Lisa.

The singer was the height of fashion in the glamorous get-up - which included a faux fur vest - as she stopped by the Kitson clothing store with her equally stylish mother on the sunny morning.

Ashley's legs were enviably toned in the light denim shorts, which she paired with a simple white T-shirt.

To ward off the chilly breeze, the actress kept warm in style in the fluffy brown-and-white vest.

She wore studded black ankle boots and accessorised with an over-sized white leather handbag and large sunglasses.
Ashley wore her highlighted blonde hair in a messy bun atop her head.
It's clear where the star gets her style as her mother wowed in a cheerful yellow ensemble consisting of straight-legged lemon yellow trousers and a white sweater.
Lisa was seen carrying a large bag from high end department store Kitson, a favourite celebrity shopping destination.

Ashley is no doubt relishing the last of her downtime as she gears up for her first dramatic blockbuster flick Left Behind.

Based on the 16-part Christian book series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, the actress will play Chloe Steele, the daughter of Nicolas Cage's jet pilot Rayford.

The movie is currently in pre-production as the director, Vic Armstrong and his team continue to build their cast before starting to film in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
